Counselling placements

Nottingham Women’s Centre is home to the Renew counselling service, providing affordable therapeutic support to women in Nottinghamshire.

Renew is staffed by a mixture of qualified, experienced counsellors and trainees registered with professional bodies.

Trainee counsellors are required to evidence a number of clinical practice hours as part of their qualification which they are able to do through us. In return, they receive supervision, administrative support, mentorship, training and are part of a vibrant supportive community.

If you are interested in doing a placement with us or volunteering your time, please read on to find out more.

A trainee placement with us

Renew is staffed by a mixture of qualified, experienced counsellors and trainees who are registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), or other relevant professional bodies.

Trainee counsellors are DBS checked, insured and have regular clinical supervision outside the centre.

We make a charge of £30 a month which contributes to running costs, ongoing training and yearly reports.

Sessions are offered between 9am-5pm on all weekdays as well as Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

A really friendly, welcoming team that feels safe.

Applications now open!

We are currently recruiting for placement therapists to join the Renew team.

We welcome applications from students on a recognised counselling training course, who have a ‘fitness to practice ‘ certificate – as well as qualified counsellors looking to gain hours for accreditation or opportunities to widen their experience and donate their time as volunteers.  We are especially interested in receiving applications from women who speak additional languages, are from diverse cultures and LGBTQ+ communities.
