Big Give – Space to Talk at Nottingham Women’s Centre
October 8 @ 12:00 – October 15 @ 12:00

Our Campaign
🩷 We’re thrilled to be part of this year’s Big Give Women and Girls Match Fund by launching the ‘Space to Talk’ campaign — running from 8th to 15th October 2025 💬
💜 This week is so important to us. We’re aiming to raise £20,000 to support the therapeutic and counselling services at Nottingham Women’s Centre — and the best bit? Every single penny will be DOUBLED thanks to match funding!
🙌 That means your £10 becomes £20 — all going directly towards creating a safe, welcoming space where women can talk and be heard.
🌟 Help us fund life-changing counselling at Nottingham Women’s Centre through our Renew therapy service. Access to therapy should not depend on your financial circumstances – your support will provide specialist, trauma-informed mental health services to women experiencing hardship in Nottingham.
Our Situation
1 in 5 women experience mental health issues and younger women are at greater risk of self-harm. Women’s experiences of trauma, domestic abuse and sexual violence are directly linked to mental ill health – 90% of our clients have experienced trauma. Poverty and hardship also contributes to mental ill-health. Yet those on low incomes can only access short-term NHS CBT, which many clients find ineffective. RENEW is addressing the dual challenge of high demand and limited availability of support.
Our Solution
Renew steps in where the system fails. We will offer free, specialist therapy for women on low incomes—up to 26 sessions in our safe, women-only community centres. Our expert therapists support those facing trauma, in multiple languages. Unlike short NHS options, our approach enables healing at women’s own pace, along with developing resilience and coping mechanisms. Women will also be able to access our other services such as peer support groups, advice and guidance, and a welcoming community.
Get Involved!

Join us for a fun and creative evening at The Embankment, Nottingham on Thursday 9th October (7–9pm). Come and get stuck into a guided painting session inspired by the incredible women who’ve made change happen — all while enjoying a drink and great company. 🎟️ £25 per person – includes all materials and your first drink 🧠 All proceeds go to the Big Give Space to Talk campaign. 💜Bring your mates, get creative, and help us raise money for a cause that matters.
We’ll be making protest art to look forward to Reclaim the Night, inspired by the Riot Grrrl movement! This can be whatever your interpretation is, and will include badge making, and protest banners – either out of card, textiles or paintings, and creating your own art based on celebrating women’s rights. The art you produce can either be taken home, or brought to and used during the Reclaim the Night march, or displayed temporarily in our Welcome Space at the Centre.
*The ‘Riot Grrrl’ movement was a feminist punk movement in the 1990s that ensured women came to the forefront. Key aspects of the movement included its focus on female empowerment and community, rejection of traditional femininity, and the use of “girls to the front” tactics at shows to create a safer space. Jemma who is running the workshop will be bringing some riot zines she’s created and there will be some punk feminist art books for inspiration.
£25 per person (including a drink)
