Giving Thanks

I have found the Nottingham Women's Centre to be a life changing experience. A place of love, support, laughter and sharing. To know this lovely little corner of the world exists is indeed something to be grateful for. To all the women there, helping and supporting in times of crisis, I give thanks. To the women who work to make the Centre a safe and wonderful place to be, I give thanks. To the many women who go there for many and varied reasons, I give thanks. To the Tutors who help us through such interesting and varied courses, I give thanks.

The entire experience really does everything to empower women. To reach out and find there are other women who are having similar experiences, or who feel the same way, or think the same thoughts is such a comfort - a real sisterhood. Sometimes we feel so isolated, not only physically, but emotionally and mentally. We think there is nowhere to go, and no-one to turn to, but to know there is actually somewhere to go where we will be heard and understood, is indeed a blessing. It is a place where one can reach for the stars and actually find one.

I have recently done a Confidence Building course and am at present doing Food & Mood. The inspiration and the learning from these courses have been so insightful and helpful, for which I am extremely grateful. I'm glad that in this world, there is a place called the Nottingham Women's Centre.
