24th August 2010
Summer time is here. Well, sort of.
There have been many discussions this past week amongst staff and volunteers about how quick this month has gone by. Perhaps its the lack of summer this summer? Or maybe its the build up to September; the Open Day, new courses, new projects...
Speaking of the Open Day, it is also the relaunch of our Women Support Group and your only chance to enrol in courses. So keep Tuesday 7th September free in your diary!! Cake sale, boutique clothes sale, free information and pamper sessions and lots more!
What else would anyone want to celebrate the end of the summer, and the beginning of a new term.
Well, keep checking for more information on whats going on in Nottingham Women's Centre. I promise it won't be six weeks until the next update this time!
See you on the 7th September! Woo!
9th June 2010
Nottingham Women’s History Group
Are you interested in women’s history? There’s a new group in Nottingham that aims to ‘Celebrate, promote and research the contribution of women to Nottingham’s history’. This means we want to:
- Promote the rich sources of women’s history in Nottingham
- Research the lives of women, and encourage others to do so
- Promote interest in the women who have shaped the history of Nottingham
- Ensure that women’s history is visible to the people of Nottingham
- Make the links between women’s history and other ‘invisible’ groups and other communities
We will be running a series of events over the next year (with financial support from One Nottingham). Interested? To get on our mailing list, or to find out more contact Mo (see below).
Our next event is our popular Nottingham Women’s History walk on Thursday 8th July 2010 Meet at Nottingham Castle Gatehouse, 7 pm (walk lasting approx 2 hrs)
Come along and learn about famous - and not so famous - women of Nottingham. No need to book – just turn up– everyone welcome.

31st March 2010
With just over an hour left of this month, it gives me just enough time for an update of what has been going on.
This past month has not only seen crazy weather conditions and a lost hour of sleep but also another busy four weeks at Nottingham Women's Centre.
International Women's Day Celebration was held on the 8th March, which was a huge success. The delicious food was a hit, with some regretting that second (and third and fourth...) piece of cake... as was the pottery painting hosted by the YWCA.
If anyone has any stories or photos from the day which they would like to share please email us and it can be put on the website. So, a big thank you to all that helped on the day as well as all that came!
See you next year for the big 100 year anniversary!!!
Our new counselling service has also settled into the Centre. If you are interested in low cost, safe counselling in a private setting please contact reception.
The Spring 2010 Course booklet is ready and available! Brand new courses Introduction to Word Processing, Stained Glass any many more will be starting in the Spring.
I would also like to officially welcome our two new members of staff, who are settling in wonderfully! So... WELCOME!
HAPPY EASTER ONE AND ALL!
