My name is Claire Goodey and I recently joined the Nottingham Women’s Centre working as a Senior Therapist in the Renew+ team.
My background is predominantly in administrative roles around various sectors so I learned a lot about people and organisations and that I didn’t very much like paperwork! Going with the ‘enjoying working with people’ trend, I began volunteering at ChildLine which led me to doing my level 2 and 3 counselling skills courses and through a series of serendipitous events I found myself at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Institute completing my degree in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling.
Since qualifying I began working in West Bridgford and started private practice this January. Getting the job at the Women’s Centre means I have been able to leave my past administrator life behind me and I am happier than ever doing a job I love in lots of places meeting and helping lots of wonderful people!
In my spare time I enjoy painting and drawing, baking, walking, storytelling and reading – I have recently (finally!) read the Harry Potter books and am excited about the new world that has opened up to me!
