Meet The Team Marie

My name is Marie Talty, and I’m the new Welfare Benefits Adviser. I have been an adviser most of my working career delivering advice to a front line service in both the public and private sectors. Amongst others, I have previously worked for Citizens Advice, the local authority, local colleges and the DWP. I am trained to deliver level 3 advice in 7 areas; Benefits, Debt, Housing, Consumer, Immigration, Family and Relationships and Employment.

After completing my degree I completed a qualification in education and training and worked as a lecturer in local colleges and adult education centres. But I soon returned to delivering advice as that is where my heart lies. I’ve also worked in Research and Campaigns. I’m a bit of a rebel and protestor! Give me any form of injustice and I’ll be there, frontline, fighting it all the way to the top.

I believe I have a good sense of humour and people find me to be an upbeat, self-motivated team player. I enjoy reading, movies, as long as they’re a good horror or thriller, festivals, gigs, nature, travel, and anything that’s vintage and quirky especially VW Camper Vans. AND music, lots of music, music, music and more music. AND food. I like food!

Lastly, I’ve just moved to Nottingham. A new job and a new place to live. I’ve lived in Scunthorpe most of my life.  And can I just say I love Nottingham, I love the people and I love my new job. Never have I been made to feel so welcome in a working environment. I’m really looking forward to my future and my future working with Nottingham Women’s Centre.
