Whether you are a woman or a man, an individual or part of a community group, from a school or college, there are lots of ways that you can support Nottingham Women’s Centre. We offer our own events for you to take part in but you can also arrange your own. As a small local charity, we rely on the generosity and support of people like you to help us to keep our doors open.

Volunteers are an integral part of the work of the Centre and without their generosity, time and broad range of skills we would not be the organisation we are today. We estimate that volunteers save us around £60,000 in wages every year and that means we can support women to do even more amazing things!
We highly value all our volunteers and work in partnership to support them to work towards their goals whatever these may be, e.g., developing work based confidence, meeting new friends, gaining practical skills or progress into a career. We understand that it can be daunting to return to work after spending time bringing up children or having a period of time away from work due to illness or another reason. Volunteering can help to develop new skills, maintain skills during periods of unemployment or increase your confidence to return to work.
We have volunteer up to 70 volunteers at any one time whose roles include: counsellors, peer support workers, tutors and teachers, administrators, researchers, marketing officers, student placements and event support to name but a few.
For more information on our volunteering service or if you have a volunteering project idea/request please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0115 941 1475.
Current Volunteering Opportunities
We have a range of long and short term volunteering roles and opportunities across all aspects of the Centre’s work, from internships and counselling placements to peer support volunteers on courses. We also occasionally have opportunities for volunteering remotely and at events.
Sadly due to high levels of demand we are unable to accept general applications and expressions of interest; however, we post details of any available opportunities here and in our e-bulletin so please visit again or contact us to join our mailing list.
For just a few pounds you can become a member of Nottingham Women’s Centre, allowing you to access books from the library and to vote at the Annual General Meeting. Membership fee for the year April 2016 – March 2017 is as follows:
Waged – £10
Student and OAPs – £5
Unwaged – £2
If you would like to join or renew your membership, please drop into reception or email email@example.com for an application form.
A one-off or regular donation to us makes all the difference – just £1 will pay for a woman who is vulnerable and isolated to come and have two cups of coffee in our welcome space, often the first step women in real need take to accessing help with us.
£2.50 will pay for woman who has gone without food to feed her children to have a hot meal with us; £5 will pay for a woman to have a complementary health session to help support her mental health recovery; £15 will pay for a woman to have a session with our employment advisor to support her into paid work; £20 will pay for a session of counselling.
Making a donation could not be easier – simply click on the “donate” button which appears at the top of every page. Thank you.
