Issues affecting women in Nottingham

We are a member of Nottingham Citizens which is a group of organisations in the city including faith organisations, charities, universities and trade unions who work together to improve the lives of the Citizens of Nottingham.

By working together on the issues that matter to their members Nottingham Citizens hold leaders to account and ask for, and get, real change.

For example, the success of our misogyny hate crime work is from working together with Nottingham Citizens.

We want to find out what matters to you so that we can take these issues to leaders and help improve your lives and the lives of women and girls in the City.

The Citizens’ listening event is taking place on the 23rd Oct. In preparation for the event, please let us know about the issues affecting YOU by filling in this short questionnaire:

Queens Award for Volunteers – Ceremony News

In June we were honoured to be awarded the Queens Award for Volunteers. This award culminated in a visit to Buckingham Palace. Classified as the MBE for volunteer groups this is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK. To receive the Award, a group must provide a service and meet a need for people living in the local community. The service needs to be supported, recognised and respected by the local community and the people who benefit from it.

On Friday 31st August we were immensely proud to host the official presentation of the award at Nottingham Women’s Centre. This ceremony was attended by the Lord-Lieutenant of Nottingham Sir John Peace, who presided over the formalities and Deputy Lieutenant Dame Elizabeth Fradd.  The Lord Mayor – Counsellor Liaqat Ali and The Sheriff of Nottingham – Counsellor Catherine Arnold were also in attendance.  The award was received by June McCombie, OBE on behalf of Nottingham Women’s Centre. The award represents a remarkable accomplishment. To read more about the award please visit this page.
On the day we were also joined by over 40 people including board members, staff and volunteers to celebrate the award. We are so very proud to be recognised and would like to say thank you again to all our volunteers past and present. The photos of the ceremony will soon be available on our website.
